The Skeptics Society is a science organization. We are a fun, friendly group of people who promote the scientific method to examine the data in support or against extraordinary claims based on evidence.
We look at the real facts behind popular myths the general public is convinced are true, but have not been proven, and are actually more likely to be improbable. Examples include UFOs, conspiracy theories, ghost hauntings, fad food diets, religious and spiritual beliefs, new age mysticism, medical quackery, alternative medicine, Bigfoot, psychic powers, aromatherapy, anti-vaccination, herbal remedies, vitamin megadosing, acupuncture, chiropractic, naturopathy, homeopathy, and just about anything you see on Dr. Oz that makes us all want to vomit. Or just go talk to anyone in Boulder for 60 seconds, and you'll get the idea.
Skeptics maintain that unless there is evidence to back up a particular claim, it is unlikely to be true.
