Cruiserman Triathlon – Tempe Town Lake North Shore.

Volunteers needed for an Open Swim Event at Tempe Town Lake

I have added a map - this event is on the WEST end of the lake North side.  It is best reached by taking Curry Rd to Lake View Dr

take my cell number[masked] in case you have trouble finding us.

It is best if you are there no later than 7:00 AM and we should be finished by 11:00 AM.

Snacks and water will be provided but it doesn't hurt to bring your own.

Any parking fees if assessed will be covered, and as with all DMP events PFDs must be worn while on the water.

Volunteer Kayakers should be ready to be in the water at 7:00 AM and have water to last around 11 AM.

On water responsibilities are primarily for the safety of the

swimmers; keeping them from going too far off course,

allowing them to rest by hanging onto the boats before

continuing, using boats as a floating starting line to keep

swimmers back. Medical assistance by kayakers is
minimal but use of their boats for any kind of transportation may arise.

Paddlers will be spread out - about 1 boat per 75 meters. The task is mostly stationary, keeping a watchful eye on approximately 250 swimmers, unless a swimmer needs assistance.

EMT and other Medical Personal will be in a motorized boat, but they will be unable to enter into the swimming lanes to offer aid.

Financial remuneration is still to be worked out, but current estimate is $20 per paddler.
