Lower Salt River - Saturday Sept 7, 2013

Join me as I try to stay upright in my "new to me" whitewater canoe. The thrills  and spills will be worth the price of admission!  I promise!

This trip is beginner friendly, but please no pets or children unable to paddle their own craft. It should not be your first time in a kayak.

We will meet at the Water Users Bus Stop #1 Parking Lot so that the early arrivals can go
ahead and move their boats and gear to the water's edge.
(map and information about the Lower Salt can be found here

As soon as enough people arrive, we will shuttle vehicles to the take-out
at Phon D Sutton Access Area. One driver will graciously agree to drive the drivers back to
Water Users.
Later arrivals may have to leave their vehicles at Water Users and ride back to their
vehicles after the paddle.

This event requires everyone to wear a PFD
(Personal Flotation Device - life vest - life jacket)
and that no alcoholic beverages be consumed during the float.
NO Exceptions!

A safety briefing will be given prior to launching on our float.
The main topics will cover "What to do if someone tips over!" and
"What to do if I tip over!"
This is for the safety of the group as a whole.

Please bring the following in addition to providing
your own kayak(or canoe), paddle, and PFD.

Tonto Forest Parking Pass per vehicle
(available at Big 5 Sporting Goods or
convenience stores along Power Rd - you must
purchase before arriving at the Water Users Parking Lot they are not
available on site. You do not need the watercraft sticker for canoes and
Sunglasses with safety strap
Wide-brimmed Hat
at least 2 liters of water if not more
Snacks for a "lunch" stop if desired
Wear clothes that you can get wet
and Footwear should have a heel strap - no flip flops
A 2nd set of clothes to leave in your vehicle for a dry ride home
a Dry Bag or Waterproof Container for car keys etc

Kayak and Canoe Rentals are NOT available at the Salt River

Event Hosts are volunteers therefore this is not a fee for service event.
It is your responsibility to determine if your physical condition
and ability are appropriate for the requirements of the event.
Please contact the event host if you have any questions

Each paddler is responsible for their own safety.
