Lower Salt River - May 17th, 2014

Enjoy  a quiet morning on the Lower Salt River and share time with wild horses and abundant other wildlife.

The river is a good introduction to moving water for those who have prior experience paddling  on quiet water, but It should not be your first time in a kayak. Please no pets, children or alcohol.

Be prepared to be on the water for about 3 hours and to paddle (not just drift)  a distance of 8 miles with some current assist. Click here for a map

By sending an RSVP for this event you agree to wear a life jacket at all times  while on the water and to not consume alcohol prior to or during the event.

Itinerary:

• Meet at the Water Users Bus Stop #1 Parking Lot at 7:00  A.M. to offload boats.

• Start shuttle as soon as the majority of people, who arrive on time, have their boats carried to the water.  Please arrive early if your boat requires setup such as assembly or inflation.

• Shuttle vehicles  to the take-out at Phon D Sutton.  Several  drivers  will need to graciously volunteer to transport other drivers back to Water Users.  Later arrivals may have to leave their vehicles at Water Users and arrange a ride back to their vehicles after the paddle.

• Safety briefing and  launch will occur as soon as the shuttle drivers return from Phon D.

What to bring

I can't 'Like' this comment but as a cyclist I am sorry for that jerks attitude on the trail and would like to kick his *&*&^. He will get what's coming to him. Someone ought to hold trail etiquette classes.

SRP has water customers, both cities, SRP water district users, some agriculture, who place water orders, so release is highly dependent on orders and available water to release. Robert would know as he used to work for the management agency releasing the water :) Since we are in a near record drought, water amounts released will be minimized as the Salt and Verde resevoirs are very low in capacity. Much more info on the SRP and US Bureau of Reclamation websites.
