Desert Survivors is a hiking and camping club for those who love wilderness and wide open spaces. Whether you're a confirmed desert rat or taking your first trip into the desert, Desert Survivors will give you a chance to experience the desert in the company of people who know and love it well.

We lead free backpacking trips and car camps for people of all levels of skill and fitness, as well as offering courses in beginning backpacking, trip planning and Leave No Trace travel.

Although the trips are free, you must be a Desert Survivors member with a signed Liability Release to participate. Membership costs just $20/year and includes a subscription to our magazine, The Survivor, and quarterly trip schedules.

What members are saying

Easy-going group. Interesting places. Seems like there was always someone who knew something about each spot.

Great opportunity to enjoy quiet, wide-open spaces and protect the environment with kindred spirits.
