Design Night: Inspiring short movies about great design

It's a design movie night!

We're going to show three short films about inspiring design at the new Fuse coworking space in downtown Boulder.

Graphic Design: A new perspective for a book about a city

Product Design: How science can lead to radical designs for products

UI/UX Design: Why should you care about experience

As a bonus, we'll also have drinks, provided by iHire Associates

Doors open at 6, movies start shortly after that.

The films were very inspiring. Thanks Dave!

I agree with Jackson that time for lively conversation would have been wonderful since there was impromptu lively debate afterwards anyway.

Sorry to miss the evening. Sounds like it was a huge success. I'll plan on the next meetup!

That was fun. An idea for next time: two or three videos with led discussion on each. I would have enjoyed hearing people's thoughts on what we saw. Thanks again!

Thanks for the feedback Jackson! I was thinking about going that route, but hearing that people want it, we'll definitely do it next time.

Did anyone post the gentleman's name from iHire? He bought the beer, so probably deserves more visibility.

The first two were TED talks, http://www.ted.com/talks
David Macauley's series on the way things work is epic, http://hmhbooks.com/davidmacaulay/
I was less enthralled with the second, yes the design challenge of getting her Twitter Trends onto different sized screens was interesting, but for a more broad take on the design challenge posed by cross platforms, I was inspired by Brad Frost's talk at SXSW this year, Beyond Squishy: The Principles of Adaptive Design, http://bradfrostweb.com/blog/post/beyond-squishy-the-principles-of-adaptive-design/

Can anyone share the names of the videos we watched and the people speaking? It might be helpful to follow up and review their work or follow them on Twitter.

BTW - I forgot to mention; StartupDenver.com and iHireAssociates is hosting the Colorado Rockies this Friday night. To learn more and sign up visit www.startupdenver.com. Currently we only have 5 game tickets left.

    Thanks, John @iHireAssociates

Dave, what's the actual date? The email notice I got says May 9th and the Meetup website says Monday May 13th...
