Meetup #15: Design Gathering and Design Thinking Open House

  • Jan 29, 2013 · 7:00 PM
  • This location is shown only to members

Join us for this fun open-format design gathering and get your creative ideas flowing. Whether you’re a DT:DC first-timer or have been to past events, come out to meet fellow design thinkers and get inspired for 2013! The evening will be filled with great conversation and engaging activities happening on the walls, tables and between attendees. Get to know your fellow design thinkers and contribute to the DT:DC community by mind mapping about the future of design thinking in DC. Pizza will be served to fuel your creative minds.

We’re very excited to host this open house to give DT:DC members a chance to meet and greet, but we also hope the event will spur some interesting food for thought.

What to do before the event.

Consider these questions:

  • What is design thinking to you?
  • What is a small challenge in DC you would like to solve?
  • What was your favorite DT:DC event or moment from 2012?
  • What would you like to see from DT:DC in 2013?

Feel free to bring your friends that are "Design Thinkers in Training" as well. We look forward to seeing you on the 29th!

I agree with the others who've commented how great the meetup was. I feel my sense of optimism restored when I walk into a room of design thinkers. I loved the conversation pieces around the room. I've taken a photo of the favorite design thinking books and magazines, and now have my work cut out for me. Thank you!

Enjoyed the company of fellow design thinkers. Great energy in the group and thank you Stephanie, et al., for organizing it and making the conversations happen.

I met TWO people who studied anthropology, an architect, a software salesman, a video systems engineer, grad students, and a guy wondering what the rules are about wearing school t-shirts from institutions one did not attend. I love the mix of people in this group and look forward to future events.

Very cool, not what I expected, given structure of past events, but delightful. Met many new friendly design thinkers and saw "old" regulars/ friends. The wall questions were thoughtful & stimulating (and Amazon will have some new orders).

I enjoyed the social aspect of the meetup and just chatting with people about design and the note card boards.

It was great networking! Although I'm a big fan of the structured events that DT:DC usually has, I particularly enjoyed this open house, which also had a bit of structure in having people post responses to questions at various sites around the room. These served as an icebreaker to start conversation flowing.

Another great session. You never quite know what to expect for the next session with DC:DT, you only know that it will be superb.

I'm on the lower slopes of learning about computational linguistics and determining whether to switch tracks to open source for a vertical application for IP management. If I stumble into someone with knowledge to share, step back - I might try to hug you.
