Designing for Uncertainty

Speaker: Presented by Gary Chou, Organizer of Union Square Ventures Network

Price: $15 for early birds, $20 for regular

Gary Chou will share lessons learned from the past three years of working with startups, entrepreneurs, investors, filmmakers, creators, and graduate students, and talk about the implications for designers of living in an increasingly socially networked world.

In mid-2010, Gary Chou, a recovering Product Manager (Trilogy, Tribe.net, Cisco), moved to New York to join Union Square Ventures for a 2-year role focused on building a network amongst the people working at Union Square Ventures-invested companies.

During this time, Gary also collaborated on a few side projects outside of the tech industry that provided context for the experiences and challenges of creators in the Internet age. He executive produced two independent feature films by Dave Boyle, both of which premiered at SXSW. With Christina Cacioppo, he co-created and taught the Entrepreneurial Design class at the School of Visual Arts MFA in Interaction Design.

In 2013, Gary wrapped up his term at Union Square Ventures and is working on what comes next.
