Day 2 Wednesday: Waterfalls, fishermen, and glass beaches (B, L, D)

  • Crepes for Breakfast
  • Waterfall Hike
  • Sand Dune and glass beach adventure
  • Noyo Harbor (the real fisherman’s warf)
  • Rest and relaxation
  • Movie Night

In the morning at 9:00 AM, after having strolled the beautiful beach, or taken a walk on the redwood trail, we’ll have a French California style breakfast, featuring sweet and savory crepes, freshly made orange juice, and coffee/ Tea. After Breakfast we drive to Russian Gulch, departing our vehicle to witness the waterfalls amongst the redwoods.

By noon, we are off to Fort Bragg. A 45 minute drive takes us to Glass Beach, an error of man that has turned into beauty. This 1949 ocean-side dump has produced beautiful rounded glass jewels from the pounding of the sea. Stroll the beach, see the tide pools and marine life, and hold the polished glass jewels in your hand. After Lunch at the beach, we will make our way to the large sand dunes, where Cardboard will be provided for a wild ride down the dunes! After the Dunes, we will take a travel through time to a historic fishing port that is still very much alive, much like Fisherman’s warf was 60+years ago.

We will see crab ships similar to those in ‘Last Catch”, watch the fisherman pull in after many days at sea, and buy some fresh seafood for our pre-dinner appetizers. Once we have toured Noyo Harbor, the van will either drop you back at the camp to relax or go for an optional hike, or drive you into the town of Mendocino for some on your own exploration.

Appetizers will feature locally caught seafood, and another excellent dinner will be enjoyed as well.
