Kayaking Detroit's Eastside Canals and Picnic

Riverside Kayak Connection will conduct us down the canals of Detroit's Eastside where we'll see and hear about historic homes, including the Fisher Mansion, and the ecological revitalization of the area.  According to RKC, we'll be in the water by 9:30 am and paddling by 10 am.  The tour should last about two hours.  Afterward we'll have a BYOB picnic at Maheras-Gentry Park.

Included in the $40.00 fee:

*kayak equipment

*life vest

Shine only. RKC will cancel if the weather turns nasty. If this does get canceled, I will announce it through here, so please check Meetup if the weather looks iffy.

Thanks Casper and Melissa (and thanks a lot to Craig for his kinf reassurance)! I just RSVP'd and will bring a friend that is also new to Kayaking. I will bring extra yummy things to the picnic so I don't get left in the weeds...

Can we bring our own kayak and equipment and if so is there a discounted price?

    April 29, 2013

    • Melissa L.

According to RKC, you can bring your own equipment. They do have requirements, so I would suggest giving them a call to find out the details. They can be reached at[masked]-2925. As for the discount, I do believe that it is only $20 per person. If that is the case, and your equipment meets RKC's requirements, then I'll be more than happy to refund you the $20.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
