Irish Immigration to Michigan, Notre Dame & New York

We just received an invitation from the Gaelic League to a presentation of 19th Century Irish Immigration to America.

Martin Walsh, historian and Director of the Connemara History and Heritage Centre in Lettershea, Co. Galway and Dr. Deb Rotman, professor at the University of Notre Dame, will share stories of immigration.

Dr Deb Rotman will share her research on Midwest immigration including those associated with Notre Dame and Beaver Island in northern Lake Michigan.

Martin’s presentation will focus on Dan O’Hara, a Connemara farmer evicted from his home in Co. Galway and his emigration to New York.

Martin was very interesting and loved to hear him sing. I will make sure to drink more 'water of life' in the future.

Excellent. My first MEET UP & it was better than I had expected. The talk was so entertaining & full of interesting facts. The singing was good too!

Anyone interested in Irish culture might want to check out the session every Wednesday night at the Gaelic League. Traditional Irish music played by some of the finest trad musicians anywhere. You'll feel like you're at The Cobblestone in Dublin or Tig Cioili in Galway.

I will mark down the date, & since I already work downtown I will just stay put until time to go to the league.

This sounds like a great presentation, but cannot attend; I hope to come to another in the future. Sounds like a great group of people to get involved with.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
