The Elmwood Historic Cemetery: Walking Tour (Right before Halloween!)

What a perfect time of year to take a guided walking tour of a scenic Detroit treasure! We can get a history lesson about the ghosts of Detroit while taking in the surrounding beauty.

This tour is not exclusively for DDHS members, as the month of October is booked up with tours because of the season. We'll make some new friends along the way too!

The fee is $5.00 and reservations must be made in advance: cemetery rules. I will not be doing a group reservation. Instead, call the Elmwood cemetery and reserve your spot. Please update your RSVP on this site after you have done this. Phone:[masked]

The tour will last from anywhere from 1.5 to 2.5 hours depending on the questions we have. Afterwards, we can head out for drinks and toast to the fore fathers, and mothers! - of our city. Suggestions welcome for our post-destination.

Nice brisk day and I enjoyed the tour. But the pace was a bit too fast for me. I usually stroll thru cemeteries...

I had visited the cemetery years ago with one of my sons on a class field trip! Glad to revisit it again and look forward to going and wondering around on my own!

Tour is rain or shine, weather forecast looks good right now, keep an umbrella in the car just in case. If a monsoon hits, we'll just meet at Green Dot at noon!

there are a couple spots that look interesting.....McShane's, Detroit's Irish Pub & Whiskey Bar or Green Dot Stables. Both are located on Michigan Ave in Corktown. I have not eaten or drank at either location. Check out their menu....

Just a warning.....Eastern Market is having beer fest that day so it will be nuts. Beer fest is a ticketed event where you pay one price and drink all afternoon.

    Greektown?

By the way, Google Maps will not locate Elmwood Cemetery. Sounds like a scary mystery nneds to be solved...better call in Scooby Doo.

Hi there! Any suggestions for where we should grab some drinks or lunch after the tour?

    October 21, 2012

  • Ashlee

Ok- Thanks for the updates Will and Jesse. EVERYONE who rsvp-ed or is on the wait list: You cannot RSVP with the cemetery for the tour on the 27th since that date is filled up. If you rsvp-ed on this website but did not rsvp at the cemetery you will NOT get to go on the tour. Please up date your meetup rsvp status to reflect this. However, if you did RSVP with the cemetery - you are all set and I will see you on the 27th - even if you're wait listed on this site. It's the list at the cemetery that counts, the meetup.com one is so we kinda know who to look for once we get there.

Sweet. This is filling up fast- make sure you call Elmwood and make your reservation for the 27th! Making a group reservation was too complicated since this is not a private tour!

Wow! Full house! A reminder- you must call the cemetery to RSVP. If you don't call the cemetery your RSVP on this site doesn't mean anything and you won't get in! Please update your meetup RSVP to match your RSVP with the cemetery.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.

Henry, started Reno Motorcycle Riders
