I think it is amazing how people love to donate other peoples money.   Please do not donate my money to causes in which I may not approve, or any other causes. I am of sound mind and am capable of donating my own money to causes in which "I" (key word) deem worthy.

I think Meet- up already cancels people with two no-shows.  I was on the wait list for the Stroh's event ( thought I had registered in Dec.), the email saying I  was approved came at 5 p.m. when I had already made other plans.  I hope I don't get bounced!

I agree there should be a way to have members keep some skin in the game, I like the idea of a small registration charge.  Maybe there could be a 50/50 raffle at the site, with half the pot going to an attendee and the other to a charity or DDH.

If the point is to minimize no-shows that have RSVP'd yes, perhaps you can take attendance/register members at events and if a member is a no-show at two or more events, simply remove them from the group.   I think an annual membership fee is fine, but I'm not in favor of paying to attend a specific event.

Hello History Lovers,

We're looking for your help. We have a vision to make Detroit Drunken Historical Society one of the most compelling ways to learn about Detroit history.

So, we are trying to constantly improve our events.

One of the questions we're considering is whether we should charge for events in order to better predict attendance and to guarantee members a spot.

Would you please let us know your thoughts?
