How I learned to stop worrying and love the Scala

Todd Flanders is a Java developer who has fallen in love with Scala.  In his own words...

I would like to demonstrate a few cases where Java is much harder to work with then Scala. Once you indulge me with this demo I'd like to explore Scala Koans randori style.

Here are the cases I want to demo: https://github.com/tflander/Java.... There are currently nine cases total, but the three I want to cover are; musical fruit, to be or not to be, and only the lonely.

You can find the Scala koans here: http://www.scalakoans.org/

Extremely well organized. Includes a github repository so we can enjoy the experience over and over at home.

If you want to build and run the code:
      - download and install SBT from http://www.scala-sbt....
      - clone the project from github: git clone https://github.com/tfl...
      - go into the cloned project: cd Java7OrScala
      - run tests: sbt test If you want to bring the project into eclipse:
      - use SBT generate a eclipse project (must be in the Java7OrScala project folder): sbt eclipse
      - verify you now have a .project and .classpath file for eclipse
      - import the existing project into eclipse
      - Optional: Install ScalaIDE from the eclipse marketplace
