Learn about Modelica

Welcome back. We will be kicking off the new year by having Michael Tiller talk about Modelica.

The talk will focus on the kind of language semantics that exist in Modelica. In terms of semantics, Modelica is a bit unusual. It is highly declarative and rarely imperative. So that, by itself is interesting. Beyond that, Modelica requires a whole bunch of really interesting algorithms in order to really work. It will focus on the interesting nexus that Modelica forms between the computer science and engineering fields. Finally, to demonstrate Modelica, Michael will showcase some web-based applications he has done that leverage a hypermedia API he developed for performing simulations and managing simulation results.

As usual, great talk, great conversation, food and soft drinks. Come on out for a great evening.

To understate, it was cool to learn about Modelica. I had an intuition that something like this was possible, but was completely unaware of its actual existence. Yet again, my view has been expanded about what is possible with computing. The integration, live visual feedback via Angular was fantastic and tied a lot of things together.

Thanks Michael for this awesome presentation, packed with goodies, yet accessible! An inspiring look into the complexity of real world engineering and how to manage it - wants to make me learn it. Can we get the slides?

    Thanks,
    JF

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
