Join us at Team Detroit for a full-day webinar offered by Rosenfeld Media (one of our awesome sponsors) called "32 Awesomely Practical UX Tips".

The event will feature six awesome UX speakers including Brenda Laurel, Christina Wodtke, Dave Gray, Kim Goodwin, Leah Buley, and Steve Portigal. You may know them from some of the excellent books they've written!

Webinars like this are much more fun when viewed with like-minded folk, so join us for a full day of learning and networking. Oh, and lunch will be provided, courtesy of Team Detroit!  Seating is limited, so register early!

For more info about the webinar, visit Rosenfeld Media.

People attending today's webinar may be interested in this Udacity course: "Intro to the Design of Everyday Things". Taught by Don Norman, Kristian Simsarian and Chelsey Glasson.

I have taken the course and thought it to be a great introduction to both user experience and interface design.

If you missed picking up the purple flyer with the list of local user experience groups and upcoming events, I posted the information at:

Also, I published a recap of all the tips from the conference at http://www.lireo.com/32-ux-tips-rosenfeld-summit/ And, I also published a Storify story for each of the conference speakers. Check them out at https://storify.com/redcrew

I really enjoyed Christina Wodtke's, Kim Goodwin's, and Leah Buley's presentations because I felt like their tips applied to real-world situations the most. Overall, all of the presenters did a fantastic job.

At the end of Christina's presentation, she mentioned to go play a game called Bastion. I'm a gamer myself so I decided to go check it out. I'll be posting a youtube link with my first impressions probably sometime later today if anyone is interested.

I strongly recommend this webinar! As a newbie web dev, I learned much that will contribute my projects. The content was superb!

I was really surprised at how much I learned. I honestly thought it would be kinda boring to stare at a screen all day but all the speakers were very engaging, and the energy in the room was great. I haven't taken that many notes since college! I especially enjoyed Kim and Dave. Kim for her insight on org structure (which has helped me refine the path I want to take with my career) and Dave for illustrating both literally and metaphorically 9 different approaches to take when developing a project. I hate that I wasn't able to arrive early enough to meet everyone personally, but I do appreciate those of you that I was able to connect with!

The webinars were great. They are still resonating and that's without looking at the notes. It was great talking with others from the field and finding out what they are doing.

Great to have you attend today, Jason. And congrats on winning the Rosenfeld Media book. What were your favorite takeaways from today's talks?

      April 24

    • Jason

I thought Christina Wodtke and Leah Buhley's talks were very inspiring. All of the speakers did a great job but I feel like I got the most real world examples from their presentations.

Hi Chandra. Glad to hear you're trying! Were you not prompted to pay? I don't see you listed in the RSVP list, so maybe try again? Could be a Meet-up bug today. In any case, we'll get it figured out. Let me know what happens when you try again. Thanks!

I filled out that preliminary form introducing myself but it didn't give me a link to pay. I clicked Yes I'll attend again just now and it took me to PayPal. So I'm all set now; I just received my confirmation email. Thank you!

It is great to see this happening in Detroit. Some of you come to Toledo last year: much better for you to have one closer to home. If you want to do a REDUX later in the year, we should partner, combined Detroit/Ann Arbor/Toledo.

    • Deborah E.

Hey, Keith! A redux sounds like a good idea. I'll catch up with Jodi and suggest we work with you to make it happen.

Is this a general UX focus, or is it more web-specific, mobile-specific, etc.?

    1 · February 24, 2014

    • Deborah E.

Hey Mary Beth, I'm not sure there will be specific tips for mobile, but the description for each speaker gives more info http://rosenfeldmedia....

We're hosting the meeting room for the webinar, Rosenfeld Media is the organization who coordinates with the speakers. You might want to contact them for more specifics.
