Portuguese Language Meetup in NORTHVILLE, MI!!

Não podemos perder o costume, gente.  Vamos lá ter uma reunião!!

This week, Detroit Portuguese Language Meetup heads back once again to Gaúcho Brazilian Steakhouse in Northville, a long-time group favorite, on Thursday, May 1st!. The always free pão de queijo there is amazing... not to be missed if you haven't tried it already.  If you have, you're likely already addicted! ;)

The somewhat more central location of Gaúcho makes it relatively accessible for both our east AND west side members. I hope everyone will make an effort to turn out this week for another fun evening of conversation, EM PORTUGUÊS!!

I'd like to take some time at this meetup to discuss the upcoming World Cup and see if we can find dates to get together to watch some of the games as a group!  ESPN will broadcast all games of the 2014 World cup!!  The first Brasil game is on 12 June (Thursday) @ 4 pm (EST) in São Paulo, which would be a regular meeting day for us, and the first American game is on 16 June (Monday) @ 6 pm (EST) in Natal, as a reference point.  The game schedule can be seen at:

As always, we welcome members of all proficiency levels.  We speak in both Portuguese and English.  Native Portuguese speakers will feel right at home and will have the chance to meet local people who share a common love for their language, both native and non-native alike.  Beginners will find that our members are very supportive in helping them pick up the language. What better way to improve your proficiency than to practice and share your experiences in a fun environment with people who understand your passion for Portuguese?

Até logo,

Marlene =)

We just grab a coffee and speak French. Some people have been coming every week for months... it creates a kind of warmth to the group.
