Sinatra Essentials

This one is for all you brave Detroit going folk!!

Schedule
I’m thinking we meet at 6:30pm with introductions and begin the Sinatra talk at 7pm. The main focus will be on why you would want to use Sinatra, followed by the building of a fairly trivial application. I’m thinking something along the lines of a time tracking app.

Gems we’ll be working with
* DataMapper
* Sqlite3
* Bundler
* Heroku

Good resources on Sinatra

Registration
I’ll be taking the list from Meetup.com on Monday the 18th to get everyone registered for this meeting. You will need to provide both your first and last name or unfortunately you won’t be able to attend. Parking Instructions
Enter Parking Deck from Farmer street.
Remember to bring in your parking ticket so it can be validated.

    We had a great discussion about Sinatra as well as a few related bits like Rails and Heroku. I really enjoyed myself.

    I like the presentation, but the presented needed to put more effort into his content.

    For anyone coming from Rails without much Sinatra experience, I have a slightly-less simple Sinatra app with reasonable defaults, separate asset and view directories configured, and rspec. I usually start my Sinatra apps as a clone of this app. Feel free to fork/clone from github: https://github.com/JangoSteve/heroku-sinatra-app
