DevOps Meetup - Monitoring Presentation & Discussion

  • Mar 6, 2013 · 6:30 PM

You are invited to attend and join the next Minneapolis DevOps group
meeting where Jeff Williams of the University of Minnesota will
present on "Monitoring and DevOps: Reduce Surprises, Accelerate
Change, and Pick Up Where Release Management Leaves Off"

DevOps has a had strong initial focus on Release Management, which is
a logical interaction point between Development and Operations. Once
the release has been deployed, the code needs to be supported in
production and those two groups both have a role in ensuring smooth
operations. Comprehensive monitoring can enable understanding the
system, and can quickly reveal when new code leads to new (and
possibly unexpected) system behavior. As developers increasingly
self-provision development and test environments, what should they be
thinking about the logging, monitoring and production supportability
of their creations? What can Ops do to help?

In this talk we'll look for answers to those questions while learning
how monitoring tools work, seeing interesting custom monitors and
considering how monitoring systems can be integrated into Release
Management to trigger cool features like automated rollback.

Let's talk about Monitoring and DevOps this Wednesday night!
