As systems grow in scale and complexity our ability to comprehend them is constantly challenged. If we add to that the growing rate at which we now expect change to happen, human involvement quickly becomes a liability. What can we do to improve the role of the human operator so that our IT infrastructure is predictable and comprehensible? In this talk, Mark Burgess will describe the approaches using automation and analytics that are currently being pioneered by CFEngine.
Mark Burgess is the CTO and Founder of CFEngine, formerly professor of Network and System Administration at Oslo University College, and the principal author of the Cfengine software. He is the author of numerous books and papers on topics from physics, Network and System Administration, to fiction.
