How Big Data will Reshape Communities, Online and Off - Ryan Ovas & James Slifierz, Sproutr
Using technologies that did not exist more than a decade ago, we can now quantifiably understand how ideas and social norms propagate through communities, societies, and the world at large. The research on social physics, a term born out of the MIT Media Lab, is ten years in the making and it has offered incredible insights into the ways human beings interact. Given what we know now, we’ll discuss how we can use this information to bring new efficiencies and opportunities to the systems that govern our everyday lives. We’ll also talk about how this data can restructure societies in a way that gives everyone an equal chance at opportunity and success.
