Hi Alison, Welcome to Ladies Who Code! I'm a front-ender too, seems like there will be many of us. iOS is also getting great representation.
I used to use PHP as needed, then I found Ruby. It's a fun language to code in. I highly suggest checking it out and seeing if you like it. I loved reading "_why's Poignant Guide to Ruby", and if you're interested in Rails, http://railstutorial.org/ was a huge help for me. I'm glad to see you know JS! I love learning more ways to optimize it. See you soon!
