IaaS vs PaaS? Building your own cloud

  • October 31, 2013 · 5:30 PM

Graeme Gillies is Cloud Architect at RedHat.  He's building a massive internal cloud focused on engineer productivity.  He is a veteran of many tools including Puppet, Ansible, Foreman, OpenStack, OpenShift and has many opinions on the current best of breed approaches available.  Come along and hear him talk about the pros and cons of IaaS (Infrastructure as a Servcice - pronounced "yass") vs PaaS (Platform as a Service) and answer your questions around building your own cloud especially compared with public cloud.

Great talk! Graeme kept the discussion about IaaS/PaaS & Public/Private at a generic level with up-to-the-minute advice while also providing a demo of building your own private cloud on top of RedHat's OpenStack. A well-received presentation.

Thanks Graeme, that was a great talk! It may not have been the main goal of your talk, but there were some really good points in there for a dev like me who is in a company with very smart but overworked and set-in-their ways systems and network administrators. :)

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.

Henry, started Reno Motorcycle Riders
