Summary
In this group we explore the ancient practice of meditation as taught by Dr. Reginald Ray and Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche. Reggie Ray's "Meditating with the Body" practices form the basis for the group format. Other influences include the Sufi and Taoist teachings of Maryam Thea Elijah.
Welcome
In our modern world it is all too easy to put aside our desire for basic human fulfillment in the face of all the stressful things we have to accomplish. We might like to explore meditation or healing work but we find ourselves too busy and distracted by our everyday lives.
In such a context the somatic meditation practices shared in this group can be very helpful. They provide the means first to bring awareness back into body, which we discover to be a profound resource of healing, wisdom and love. Through working with the body, we can fully engage the spiritual journey as understood in the ancient and indigenous practice traditions. This path is designed to unlock the birthright of our fullest potential as human beings, which is limitless freedom, power, and joy.
Sessions are guided by Matthew Cohen, a certified Meditation Instructor. Matthew is also a healing artist and a web designer.
Our meetings are relaxed, open, and accessible to all experience levels. There are no shrines, chanting, or special etiquette required.
The group exists to provide the guidance and support members need to be able to embody their own unique journey fully. Our approach is non-denominational and non-hierarchical.
Sessions generally consist of a short talk, guided somatic meditation practice, and time for discussion at the end.
