Dear Dharma Drink Friends,
I like to share with you an event on May 12th celebrating Buddha's Birthday. The day begins with chanting 10am, however I scheduled this meetup at 11am, as there is a Dharma talk beginning at that time.
Some of you may have heard my story about how I had volunteered my time as a driver for a monastic during my in-between-jobs period. If you did then you probably also heard that I was most fortunate to have learned so much from the monastic. That monastic is Venerable Guo Xing; I hope some of you may also benefit from his teaching. Here is the opportunity!
Abbot Venerable Guo Xing (Fashi) will be giving a Dharma teaching on "The Mind, the Buddha, and Sentient Beings - One in Essence". This lecture will be given in English and Chinese.
Venerable Guo Xing is the current Abbot of Chan Meditation Center in Queens NY and Dharma Drum Retreat Center in Upstate NY, part of Dharma Drum Mountain, an international Buddhist organization based in Taiwan. Venerable was ordained under Chan Master Shen Yen in 1986 and assisted the Master between 1987 and 2007 in leading meditation retreats in Taiwan, Southeast Asia, and the United States, totaling more than 50 retreats, including the first 49 day retreat at DDRC in 2000.
