There are few things in life that can denigrate one's idealism and cultivate pessimism quicker than walking past a homeless person.
Here's someone in pain, suffering and in need, yet tens of thousands of people in Vancouver walk past someone in that situation every single day.
Let's change that.
I have a unique idea, that can solve a part of the problem. I believe it is a simple idea, sustainable, scalable and can have a sizable impact.
If you want to know more, then sign up for this meetup event page, & i will schedule something soon.
PS As food for thought, to drive imagination and generate action, that lead to worthwhile results.
There's an expression,
1. `Give a man a fish, feed him a day,
2. teach him how to fish, feed him a lifetime,'
3. & I would add, if you teach an entire community how to fish, and take care of it's fishery, then they can feed themselves for generations & centuries to come.'
Setting aside, the non-vegan & gender politics part of the phrase, I tend to see creating constructive change as doing all of the above three steps, Giving to those who can't do for themselves, (ie giving a fish), training those who can be self-sufficient (ie teaching how to fish), and 3rd transforming the problem and changing the paradigm (training communities to feed themselves).
I am happy to collaborate and work with like-minded, good hearted people, who want to do more good. Right now I have 3 people on this event, me, myself & I:-)
If you have any feedback or questions then please post it below in the comments section, and I'll respond as quickly as I can…
Hi, I've been involved in problem-solving the homelessness issue for 7 years. The average homeless person in Vancouver is said to cost taxpayers over $50K each, at a conference on this subject. My project, this year, is to "save" just one man's life --- to see if one soul can be saved. I am not suceeding, even though this man has a $500K asset that he is unable to access, as it is tied up in litigation, and he was a brillant businessman, at one time; alcohol is his problem. Right now, I am out of ideas. I am not a professional in this matter, and could use some ideas. Feel free to post to my profile, if you have suggestions, because (notices to ) replies to comments get buried in my junk email. Thanks in advance.

This sounds like a great activity for a good cause, will try to help out as much as I can, already doing a lot of that everyday. I was just reading at some group and apparently they said they were on meet up to help out others, so I asked to join, got a declined, I did give a full profile on my businesses... obviously, conflict with whatever there trying to do there with the group. I used to be on meet up long time ago but in the past (around 2003 when I joined) it was for business networking. Those days are over, I am here to meet good people and those who truly care about helping others. Thank you to the organizer again for having me here with group, I have no hidden agenda, what you see is what you get :) sorry about the profile pic, due to my show. I do not want to put my photo in public, want to just simply meet good friends, god bless for the things you do and trying to help out the less fortunate ones.

I apologize for the confusion. I will hold a homeless centric meeting on the weekend.
THe other meeting i was talking about, on April 23rd is essentially a speed up skill development, and incubator for people who want to make a difference....
Working to help homeless people is important, as is helping eating healthier, honourable foods, donating blood & signing up to bone marrow & organ donors. Trying to build a hub where we could do all of those things together....
I will keep everyone updated and hopefully will be smarter with my choice of words. Please stay tuned. And Thank You for expressing your interest. It always feels good to see other people care too.

Hi Folks. I'm working on details as we speak. I need to be responsible, do the due diligence and then make sure the people who are interested will be dedicated to helping execute what i believe is a partial solution to helping homeless people... I have scheduled a meetup on April 23rd in downtown, from 8pm to 9pm, that will tangentially deal with the homeless issue. I will plan to schedule a weekend meeting as soon as i can.
