March 21, 2013 DCHDC Meetup

For the March 21 DCHDC, we'll be hearing about the Electronic Literature Showcase from Susan Garfinkel of the Library of Congress and about the Digital Archive of the Cold War from Laura Deal of the Wilson Center. More details:

Susan Garfinkel, research specialist, Digital Reference Section, Library of Congress, will preview the upcoming Electronic Literature Showcase and also discuss some of the motivations for--and challenges involved in--organizing a digitally-oriented event in a "traditional" library setting. See http://www.loc.gov/rr/program/elit-showcase.html for more about the showcase, which will open April 3rd.

Laura Deal, catalog specialist, Cold War International History Project, Wilson Center, will discuss the newly relaunched Digital Archive of the Cold War International History Project, which contains Cold War-era documents in a dozen languages from nearly one hundred different archives around the world. One of the main goals of the new site was to develop a user-friendly way of visualizing the project's complex set of historical documents and allowing new users to easily browse and search the collections: see http://digitalarchive.wilsoncenter.org/browse to browse the collections.

Digital Cultural Heritage DC meets on the third Thursday of every month. If you're interested in acquiring, preserving, stewarding, providing access to, exhibiting and interpreting digital cultural heritage, join us to meet like minded folks, hear what people are doing in this space, and learn about some awesome projects and technologies in the field. For updates, join our meetup group here.

Please note that Stetson's is a bar, and 21 and over.

See you there!
