The Thursday August 21 DCHDC Meetup

We are happy to announce a two-part DCHDC meetup this month, both which will showcase the Histories of the National Mall project. Our speaker will be Sheila Brennan, Associate Director of Public Projects, Roy Rosenzweig Center for History and New Media at GMU.

Part one kicks off at 5:30pm by the Joseph Henry statue in front of the Smithsonian Castle (map here). Bring your phone/ tablet and water (it is sure to be warm) and meet the project team. Pretend you're a tourist, and explore the site, learn something new about the National Mall, and test the historical mapping layers while on the ground. We will then metro to Stetsons.

Part two will get underway at 7pm at Stetsons, where Shelia will talk in detail about lessons learned and other aspects of the project.

See you at both places!

Histories of the National Mall was created by the Roy Rosenzweig Center for History and New Media with funding from the NEH.

Thanks for posting the pics. There were no slides for the event, just walking through on my tablet (part 1) and phone (part 2).

We just grab a coffee and speak French. Some people have been coming every week for months... it creates a kind of warmth to the group.
