Hi everyone,

Hope you all enjoyed the long bank holiday weekend!

It is with great pleasure that I can announce September's Digital Edge meetup and topic:

"Becoming your own client"

It's a goal of most agencies to transition from work-for-hire to more residual forms of income, be that retail or licensed products. And we're very lucky to have lined up James Young, Creative Director of Offroad Code to talk about their journey into selling Japanese Kitchen Knives.

Responsible for the design and front end of the websites Offroad Code produce for their clients, James also writes extensively about design for .Net magazine and Smashing Magazine, and at his own website (http://welcomebrand.co.uk).

James' talk aims to share some of the lessons about design and development learnt through their venture, Cutting Edge Knives (http://cuttingedgeknives.co.uk/). There'll be plenty about adapting to demand, managing customer expectations and stock and how they identify and build tools to overcome the problems that can impact sales.

The meet up will be held at the Abstraktion offices, in George St House (George St), and there will be drinks provided, but feel free to Bring Your Own too.

Look forward to catching up with everyone after the Summer break,

Thanks!

Chris G, Abstraktion.

Thanks for the talk, good to see how you've put in to practice the talents you provide to clients, but for your benefit. I just have to think of a product now! Slides were hard to see so thanks for linking them.
