Digital Okanagan - Tech Community Events is a group for all technology community events happening in the Okanagan. The group has grown to include events such as Lean Coffee, HackNights, co-working and any other events that appeal to developers, designers and entrepreneurs. If there is a tech event you'd like to see in the Okanagan, please contact us!
Here are some popular ongoing events:
Startup Coffee Kelowna (#StartupCoffeeKL) originally #LeanCoffeeKL, is a peer group for startup founders, enthusiasts and aspiring entrepreneurs. We identify, discuss and action more efficient ways of conducting business while reducing waste. Inspired by the good folks in San Francisco and Toronto.
Hack night (#HackNightKL) is an evening where designers, developers and anyone else in the tech industry can come together to build a quick project together. We start off by pitching various ideas and then choose which project(s) to work on. All skill-sets are welcome, and it's always a fun time!
The @UXBreakfast weekly discussion group is aimed at those who work professionally in fields that relate to building positive user experience, or those who wish to learn about and explore this way of thinking and user centred design driven approach.
#devKL is a biweekly meetup to encourage local software developers to collaborate and learn from each other. We're hoping to build the development community by providing group mentorship, and encouraging members to connect and continue the collaboration between events.
Art Brew Come hang with some funny, creative artists and share projects, inspiration or just bring your pencils and have a go at sketching. If anything else you’ll be caffeinated, stretch some drawing muscles and have a good laugh.
MAD Nights MAD (Marketing And Design) Nights are evenings of education and sharing stories (with some food, drink and networking on the side).
OKDG (Okanagan Developer Group) is a monthly meet-up hosting in a casual environment for technology and design professionals to socialize, network and share ideas. Our speakers cover topics ranging from typography to inversion of control and dependency injection. All people who are in the technology space are welcome. Our attendees' backgrounds vary from Software Engineering, Graphic Design, to Students and Project Managers.
