    Hello Dining & Vining!

What an amazing 2013 our group had with a wonderful close to the year at the Very Korves Christmas Party. Well as we all know, after the Western New Year is officially over in December, the Chinese New Year awaits. Last year we went to China Mama, a great place near Chinatown, and this year (the year of The Horse), we will head downtown for some festivities, food and fun.

Right now there is no need to officially RSVP for this event as the restaurant time & date is still TBD. Of course, you are welcome to RSVP to indicate interest only. Friday, Saturday and Sunday are all under consideration and a brunch/lunch affair is a possibility if we do Saturday or Sunday. The parade is on Sunday from 11 to 1, but the entertainment on Saturday night looks good as well.

You can get details of the happenings here: http://www.cnyinthedesert.com/events/

We will scout out the location and let you know, but I am 90% sure that we will dine at the Red Mansion in The Downtown Grand (formerly Fitzgerald's). This Chinese Restaurant features authentic Chinese cuisine from chef Can Duong of Wendy's Noodle Cafe in Chinatown. Expect to find Hong Kong-style dishes and Chinese tapas with seating for 45 in a very red room.

A link to the hotel's restaurant is here:

The menu can be found here:

There is also a whisky tasting event at The Golden Nugget on Friday and Saturday that some people may be interested in rolling into the CNY. Here is that info: http://www.goldennugget.com/lasvegas/whiskeyfest.asp

If you prefer whiskers over whisky then check out the Vegas Pet Expo on Saturday over at Cashman. Davita and will surely attand this!: http://www.vegaspetexpo.com/

Happy Holidays and the official details will be posted soon.

    Cheers -

    Kelly & Davita

Thank you for your input Helen, however, I do want to let you know that Sunday is a high probability and on par with Saturday. Friday is brining up the rear. Ultimately though, I will go with what seems to work best for the group and integrated with the festivities downtown. Have a great Holiday Season and New Year. Cheers!
