Feb 7th update: RSVP's open until midnight tonight or 20 people whichever is 1st for the dinner portion from 5pm to 6:30pm. You MUST RSVP to attend the this part of the evening IN the private room we reserved.
Oddly, the amount of specials requests for this event is more than ever and I'm not sure why. That said, we can NOT accommodate special requests IN the private room, however feel free to get your own table right outside of it and we'll do our best to mix and mingle. It is private but there is a big opening in the wall with no doors. It should work.
Now, if you just want to attend the CNY portion just come by Pizza Rock between 6:20 and 6:40 and we'll all head over together. They have slices at a window outside and at a counter in the entry too.
Feb 3rd Update - Changed to 20 people only. Better given the room size. No other changes. See you all soon!
Hello Diners & Viners!
We have settled on an Eastern-Western theme to kick off 2014 with dinner at Pizza Rock (PR) at Ogden & 3rd followed by the Chinese New Year (CNY) celebrations on Fremont Street. I reserved the private room at PR which will accommodate 25 people. I know we have 30 RSVP's on the original 'save the date' announcement, but I can't imagine everyone attending under the new 'communal structure'. Maybe it will happen though? So, if we get bigger than 25 we’ll just move to the main room and cross that bridge if we come to it.
Communal structure? Yes! We are taking a page from the Pizza Posse (PP) gang (love those guys) and doing the communal pizza thing at PR. This means that we will order a variety of pizzas, based on peoples desires, and have them “double cut” so everyone gets a chance to sample something. Given the anticipated count of 25 Diners & Viners that means we’ll get about 8 different varieties of pie, so about 1/3 of a pizza per person. The number if pizzas will adjust accordingly based on the final RSVP level, obviously.
Make sure to review the menu which is here: http://www.pizzarocklasvegas.com/ It’s VERY extensive! We have posted a poll where you can vote for your favorite 'types' of pizza and that will drive the 'variety' selection. We’ll place the final order of the exact 'variety' when we arrive. Some of the varieties I think look good are the MARGHERITA, PIZZA ROMANA I, DOWNTOWN, CAL ITALIA (pictured), QUAIL EGG WHITE ROSE, NEW HAVEN LOU, LA REGINA and the OLD CHICAGO. Which ones are looking good to you though? Oh, sorry for the caps, I C & P’d from the PR website. I’m not yelling, I promise. :-)
In honor of 2014 the RSVP cost will be $20.14 per person and will include the pizza, a side salad, garlic bread, a fountain drink, tax, tip and the small PayPal fee. By the way, PayPal doesn't charge the fee if you select friends/family payment. Hint. Hint. If you order any other salads, sides, pasta, anti-pasta, bottled beverage, adult beverage, etc. that will be an additional cost over and above the $20.14. This works really well with the PP gang and should for us as well. Ultimately, this means that we will get one bill and I’ll pick up the tab via PayPal so the $20.14 is not returned like we normally do with Dining & Vining. You only pay more if you order over and above the original order. Make sense?
The reservation is for 5:00 pm and after some amazing pie we will walk over to Fremont Street around 6:30 - 7:00 pm for the Chinese New Year (CNY) festivities. The schedule of activities going on around the time we will be done are as follows:

7:00pm-7:10pm: Viva Vision
7:10pm-7:20pm: Lion Dance (Lohan School of Shaolin)
