Do you live for a passionate philosophical debate about matters of morality and justice? Do you love nothing better than to discuss controversial legal issues with friends over a glass of wine and a great meal? Are you open and receptive to the ideas and opinions of others even though they may differ greatly from your own? If so, this is the group for you!
Each Dinner Party Debate will focus upon a particular legal issue facing our society and the moral, philosophical and even theological implications involved. For example, when, if ever, is it morally permissible to intentionally take the life of another human being? There will be some assigned readings for each topic with which participants should be familiar prior to the meeting. Over dinner we will have a structured discussion about the topic for the evening.
While these types of issues by their nature often inspire strong emotional responses, all opinions are welcome and will be received with courteous respect! Come and share a drink and a meal, as well as your thoughts and your beliefs, with new friends at one of Orlando's great dining spots. Be a guest at one of our Dinner Party Debates!
For this debate we will be examining the following philosophical question: under what circumstances, if any, would it be morally correct to tell a lie? We will discuss various hypothetical fact patterns, many of which will change continually throughout the course of the evening, as we explore this provocative issue. Read more
