History Detectives: Sleuthing for Local History

What: 45-minute presentations by six experts on little-known aspects of local history, including:

• “Rescued from the Attic: A 1918 Grand Rapids Treasure Trove”
• “Merze Tate DECLASSIFIED”
• “Uncovering Ray: From House History to Discovery of a Legendary Cartoonist”
• “Collective Biography: The Rewards of Prosopography”
• “The Ku Klux Klan in 1920s Grand Rapids?”
• “Invaluable Services: Special Scouts in the Civil War”

When: 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Jan. 21

Where: Ryerson Auditorium, Level 3, Grand Rapids Public Library,
111 Library St. NE

Admission: Free
