FORT OSAGE NATIONAL HISTORIC LANDMARK!!! (think F Troop tv show) May 4th UPDATE

Built by Clarke...it was second FORT on our countries push west. There is a spot in lower level that reveals original building, as well as others selections thruout. The rest is reconstructed, but shows what it looked like. It's so weird as one travels thru a regular bunch of houses, then there is the fort. A time capsule hidden in suburbia. $7 admission. Meet time there is 10am. BRING A PICNIC LUNCH and chair or blanket in case few tables etc. We will eat next to fort or at nearby park. Also that day is SPRING NATURE WALK DAY! With guided walks along banks of MO RIVER. Walk times will determine our lunch time. Seeya F-Trooper TRIPPERS!

I have a big grad party too darn it. Fort Osage is one of my most favorite places!!! It have A LOT of paranormal stuff that goes on. I worked there for about 2 years but I grew up in Sibley for I played there bunches when I was a kid!!! SO I am disappointed I won't be able to make it.

Hey Rich, thank you for being so organized and conscientious in getting everyone ready for an event, taking care of details, etc.! Doesn't happen like this in every meetup group as we all know. Organizing takes a lot of work and effort in planning and executing. I'm sure a lot of M.O.K.A.N. members have noticed too. Looking forward to Saturday. :)

River walk is at 10:30. Please give yourself enough time to be there at 10:00. Drive time from KC is 40 to 50 minutes depending on route you take. We went I-70 west to Blue Springs then North to Fort. A little longer distance wise, but Hiway faster.

    • Rich R.

I-70 East that is, fr KC.

I live at I-435 and Wornall. I have room for 3 people in my 2 door Honda Civic. I can give persons a ride if they can be picked up close to I-435, I-470 or I-291.

Also next to is Jackson Countys second oldest cemetary. We will visit that also. Remember to bring a lunch and we'll picnic onsite. Seeya F-Trooper Trippers!

Fort Osage is one of my favorite places in the Kansas City area. It is a very realistic example of early Missouri. The museum is excellent. Great view of the Missouri River. The following is the website for the museum: http://www.jacksongov.org/content/7880/7890/7998/default.aspx The last time I was there two years ago there was also a country produce market a few miles from the fort.

My life has suddenly become overfull!! I have to go to LIttle Rock Arkansas the Sunday after Fort Osage so I cannot do both Fort Osage and Raku night the day before. I cannot skip Raku night so for me Fort Osage will have to wait for another time.

I'm game for carpooling, not sure what area you are in Lynn, Merimo and I are near each other, looks like about half an hour to each location, you are more than welcome to hang with me for the day if you'd like..

My plans, at this moment, are to leave Fort Osage about 2pm. That should get me back to KC about 3pm, in time to collect my family and head for Raku night at about 4pm.

I love this place but expect that after lunch I will be ready to head back to KC. That evening is RAKU night at the Kansas City Clay Guild. I did this in October and am definitely going back on the evening of the 10th.
