Seattle, WA 98119Another great thing about being in Seattle is we're a port for major cruise lines! Sibyl posted this idea on Seattle Singles (though not a "Singles" cruise) and I'd thought I'd post it here too. Also posted on some other Meetups. Please read all the details and post a note when you've booked your cruise.
Princess is offering a one night cruise from Seattle to Vancouver on Sunday, September 19th. Rates start at $49 per person (gratuity, taxes and the return trip extra). The costs are really reasonable whether you go solo or double in a cabin since the only additional things you pay for are drinks, gambling, the spa and shopping. It's a great way to try out cruising and get discounts on future cruises while having a fun night out! You can get on the ship at noon, so for a price of a hotel stay, you get lunch, dinner, breakfast (dining room or room service) on one of the best cruise lines, and a trip back by bus or train (all starting at about $125).
Note from Sybil: ?I have been on a number of these one nighter cruises from Seattle and they are loads of fun. Princess has been the nicest cruise line I have been on so far.? Booking your Cruise
See details at http://www.princess.com/
, but I suggest calling them to book your room if you want to choose the location or you have someone you're rooming with who's paying separately. If you'd like to room with a group member, use comments to coordinate.
(Princess may also have a program for finding you a roommate. Contact them for details.) You will
need to call Princess to remove/refund the transfer fee if you are taking the train back or to schedule their bus. See details under ?The Return? below. Onboard
We are getting on the ship right around noon since there is so much to do on the ship
. There is a great spa, pool, sports stuff, shopping, art exhibits
, restaurants, bars
, and lounging. Sybil has booked a table for 8 second seating dinning at 8pm in the dining room. To join us, use the cross-reference code: A34. On the Princess cruise she took earlier this year the meals and service were wonderful so we?re anticipating the same. The Return 9am Bus:
Sibyl is taking the 9am bus back. You can book the bus that princess provides directly. You may need to call them just to make sure it is the bus from Port of Vancouver to Port of Seattle it is $49 per person. 5:45pm Train:
Since Claudette hasn?t taken the Amtrak train
before, she?s getting that at 5:45pm. Cost is around $60. Amtrak also offers a bus service for about $38.
You are more than welcome to head back either way, just let us know in your RSVP note. Parking
There is parking information on the Princess site at $20-25 a day. Also check out other area garages for better rates and post a comment to let the rest of the group know too. NOTE: 1)
You will need a passport or passport card (enhanced driver?s license)
to take the cruise. Standard service for Passports state it take up to 6 weeks, but people have gotten them in 2 weeks. Expedited service is also available. 2)
