Saturday/Sunday brings the Supermoon for 2013. While not a contest - this is just a reminder that this celestial event is happening and an opportunity to share some of your creative or close-up captures of La Luna on this page once your done!!
"Full moon falls on June 23, 2013 at 11:32 UTC (6:32 a.m. CDT in the U.S.). Thus, for many, the moon appears about as full in the June 22 evening sky as it does on the evening of June 23. This full moon is not only the closest and largest full moon of the year. It also presents the moon’s closest encounter with Earth for all of 2013. The moon will not be so close again until August, 2014. In other words, it’s not just a supermoon. It’s the closest supermoon of 2013." ~ http://earthsky.org/tonight/is-biggest-and-closest-full-moon-on-june-23-2013-a-supermoon
For tips and tricks - do a quick search online - something like http://photodoto.com/four-basic-tips-for-photographing-the-moon/ should get you started (and give some ideas on other ways to tackle it).
You might also consider catching up with Gary for his Supermoon workshop - http://www.meetup.com/Rhode-Island-Photography-Workshops/events/125219162/ (if you do go - you should be able to poke the moon with that 800mm lens he is offering canon owners a use of).
