La Salette Shrine (rescheduled due to weather)

Lets shoot some Christmas lights and practice our low light photography. It should be bright enough that you don't need a tripod so don't worry if you don't have one.  The illuminations is open from 5 to 9pm daily. There are over 300,000 lights illuminating over 10 acres. The event is free to everyone. I am hopeful for some snow, but I'm not holding my breathe.

This was a great learning experience in shooting in low light situations. I did have some problem with camera shake. Lots of things to photograph - too bad it was so cold!!!

Surprisingly large place. Nice layout and plenty to see. Next time I might consider a tripod for additional possibilities.

Looks like it's going to be very windy tonight.

Good call on Sunday Susan. Now watch and see the weather service over predicted once more. New Years Eve might be a busy night for many - Think I will be celebrating a birthday come to think of it!!

This depends on how bad the weather is for me to make it. I cannot do Sunday because I am going to Boston

I think we will take a pass on tonight also. Predicting up to 6 inches where I live through tonight. Tomorrow is a possibility, but not definite - have to check with the better half.

Susan, I'm only 10 minutes away so I plan to be there regardless of the weather. I'll have some family in tow.

I am 45 min away too - will likely not go tonight either.

I was so excited for this meet-up - my first! But I am 1 hr 15 min from Attleboro, so given the latest forecast, I think I will hold off too. :(

I agree with Matt - I am a 1/2 hour away. I'd rather not be out driving in the middle of winter storm conditions. I am disappointed but I'd rather be safe.

I think I will hold off until Sunday or Monday. Would be an hour drive for me in good weather.
National Weather Service - TIMING... SNOW BEGINS EARLY THIS AFTERNOON WITH THE HEAVIEST SNOW FALLING FROM 5 PM TO 1 AM. SNOW ACCUMULATION OF 4 TO 8 INCHES.

Sorry have been out all day and haven't heard a forecast. I am still planning on going but I live close to Attleboro so I want everyone to be safe. I will wait to see what the weather people say tomorrow to decide what to do.

I was wanting to check with Susan (Event organizer and Host) regarding any changes with this meetup. Does not look like a severe storm but no doubt different areas will see (and clear) the accumulations differently. As Gail mentioned - it may well be even more beautiful with some snow. Just need to ensure everyone is safe and that the lights will be on too.

If its light and fluffy snow, it will be even nicer.

Where are we all meeting up there? Are we still going if It is snowing out?

    December 28, 2012

  • Linda

Is this event still happening if it is snowing out?

Someone on the waiting list can have my spot. I got tickets to Harry Connick Jr. for Christmas tonight at foxwoods...

Hi Susan, could I attend too? Still wondering about the limit of people. Thanks!

Can I be put on a wait list for any cancellations?

    December 23, 2012

    • Susan

Just kidding Chris I just upped the limit so you can go.

Thanks Susan ... I am looking forward to this.

I already went on a Tuesday and there was no one there. It was perfect to only have a few people. I have a T3i and used the night setting and therefore didn't use flash and the lights provided enough light that I didn't need a tripod either. Indoors there are some great displays as well. Have a good time. Snow would be a great addition.
