Outdoor Drum Circle

Play hand drums, bells, claves, shakers, and more percussion instruments with us.   Music equipment and instructions provided, and free!

We'll play from 2 to 4; feel free to join us anytime before 3PM.   Look forward to drumming with you!

Directions:   Going eastward (toward Pasadena) on the feeder street of South Loop West, look for a large sign that says Baha'i Outdoor... This sign is immediately before the feeder street makes a right turn. Basically, stay on the feeder street, and you can't miss it.

So I went. It was my first time as I am new and nobody even acknowledged me. I just sat there. Everybody (about 9 people) was banging on their drum. I didn't get to meet anybody, didn't get to play anything or get to event talk to anybody. I probably won't do this event again. I was very excited to do this and after maybe 15 minutes of sitting by myself, listening to the never-ending song, I got up and left. I was really sad, as I drove all the way from Galveston specifically for this.

Maybe there should be a meet and greet 5 minutes before class starts.

I was fine about not knowing anybody. That's not the issue I had. It was that nobody said nothing to me and I didn't get the chance to talk to anybody. The song went on forever and everybody seem to have banged themselves into a transcendental state of mind. So after sitting, I gave up and left. I think it could have been organized better. At least somebody wave hello, or say hi when a person walks up. I'm not trying to be mean or awful, it's just how I felt.

There's a shack if it rains. Drum heads are sensitive to moisture, so if it pours, the event will likely be cancelled. No such forecast though.

    Dress anything goes.

I think it's the Kirby Fannin exit. You'll then cross Alameda and continue on feeder street.

If coming from Galleria area, which Exit from the feeder road do we take? What is the dress? If it rains, do we go inside? thanks!

    Good point Anthony.

I've reset the Google map pointer marker a little more accurate. Driving instructions are perhaps better. Going eastward (toward Pasadena) on the feeder street of South Loop West, look for a large sign that says Baha'i Outdoor... This sign is immediately before the feeder street makes a right turn. Basically, stay on the feeder street, and you can't miss it.

I tried looking this place up but it shows a pipe yard at the address listed? Any help with a description of where this lace is at?

Take care of other people's equipment.

You might be edited (I'm sure you understand, as you are an editor). But otherwise, come on!

    See you Saturday!

Also, in a couple of months, we'll likely have an opportunity to have pro band musicians backing any instrumentalists. Will be on Sunday afternoon and evening! Keep posted!
