followed by live jazz upstairs with Horace Grigsby
at Cezanne's Jazz Club
A very quaint-looking British style pub, The Black Labrador offers two venues in one.
The first is the restaurant/bar. Wrapped in lush greenery outside, this authentically-styled venue has been serving Houstonians for 26 years. A large menu of both appetizers and meals are available... some British, some American. Prices are quite reasonable, too, with the average meal selection running $10-$12.
Decor and ambiance are what set BL apart from other such pubs though. A third of their available seats are outside on their beautiful patio. The remainder fill an indoor filled with rich wood accents, complete with authentic English iconography and some unique artsy touches.
Starting at 9pm, we'll have the option of heading upstairs to Cezanne's Jazz Club to catch the smooth sounds of live jazz with Horace Grigsby.
Complete with a full bar, Cezanne's provides a classy and cozy, intimate setting and is accessed only from a stairway inside the Black Labrador. Regardless of whether you've done business downstairs or came just for the performance, there is a $10 cover charge and 1 drink minimum -- but if you like jazz, it's more than worth it! Drinks are great, servers are attentive, and the vibe is just... cool.
Parking is available via the small surface lot in front of the building and a larger garage behind.

I got there round 10 and couldn't really find anyone. Since I never met any of you. But it was a small venue and tough to circulate round in. I hope I have better luck next event.

We had a good crowd, and lots of conversation. I was disappointed that Cezanne's filled so quickly that most of us couldn't get in -- but it was still a nice time.

We have reserved space for dinner, but Cezanne's holds about 40 and takes no reservations. First come, first served! A second set starts at 10:45 for any of us who can't make the first.
