Oz The Great And Powerful - IMAX Version

The theater has now confirmed that the Sunday morning IMAX show will be at 10:00 a.m.

We have been told that the price of the IMAX show is $12.

Disney's fantastical adventure "Oz The Great and Powerful," directed by Sam Raimi, imagines the origins of L. Frank Baum's beloved wizard character. When Oscar Diggs (James Franco), a small-time circus magician with dubious ethics, is hurled away from dusty Kansas to the vibrant Land of Oz, he thinks he's hit the jackpot-fame and fortune are his for the taking-that is until he meets three witches, Theodora (Mila Kunis), Evanora (Rachel Weisz) and Glinda (Michelle Williams), who are not convinced he is the great wizard everyone's been expecting. Reluctantly drawn into the epic problems facing the Land of Oz and its inhabitants, Oscar must find out who is good and who is evil before it is too late. Putting his magical arts to use through illusion, ingenuity-and even a bit of wizardry-Oscar transforms himself not only into the great wizard but into a better man as well. When small-time magician Oscar Diggs (James Franco) pulls one flimflam too many, he finds himself hurled into the fantastical Land of Oz where he must somehow transform himself into the great wizard-and just maybe into a better man as well. -- (C) Walt Disney

After the show we can get some lunch and then head into the parks for more fun! Downtown Disney will also be celebrating St. Patrick's Day. Let's have a great time!

The movie was visually great... spoilers? If you attended the preview at the Mad Hatter Party area, you will regret no water spraying. The acting.. wow... well, Franco actually was on the scene but barely there

Hi Mike, yes, definitely planning on having lunch afterwards. Earl of Sandwich is right next door, or there's Tangaroa Terrace at the hotel nearby. Or if everybody's got passes or tickets we could go eat inside one of the parks. We're flexible, as we've eaten at most places already, so whatever the group wants to do is fine by us.

Hi. Just putting the reserved seats idea out there to see what you think. Maybe it won't be crowded and not a problem. I have never done this, so I don't know if there is an extra fee, as with ticketmaster. It would be nice to avoid that.

It looks like we can purchase tix in advance here: https://www.fandango.com/Transaction/Ticketing/amc/ticketboxoffice.aspx?row_count=4961866&tid=AAPCF&from=Redirect.aspx&mid=160950&wssaffid=12010_AMCwebsite&wssac=58&refreshdate=03%2f17%2f2013

and the next screen currently shows almost zero are already reserved, so we could choose a row or two, and everyone purchase their own. We could swap seats later.

    Thoughts on this?

Has anyone already reserved their ticket? Or, are we going to meet first and try to get seats together? I plan to attend but hopefully I won't be sitting alone. Thanks!

    From Disney Parks Blog, http://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2013/03/downtown-disney-district-wears-the-green-this-st-patricks-day-weekend-at-the-disneyland-resort/

"On a weekend when everyone wants to be Irish, Downtown Disney District will invite visitors to join in the spirit with a special St. Patrick’s Day celebration at the Disneyland Resort.

From 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. this Saturday and Sunday, March 16 and 17, Downtown Disney District will offer special entertainment for St. Patrick’s Day celebrants on the West Side Main Stage and near House of Blues. Many of the Downtown Disney District food locations will have special St. Patrick’s Day offerings on Sunday or throughout the weekend."

So what greenery do you think Earl O'Sandwich will serve on it's patty o'furniture?

Oh - also I thought the movie was very kid-friendly. It's rated PG and only has a bit of scariness that might be too intense for very little ones.

I saw this Saturday night - it's great! I was disappointed with the IMAX at Downtown Disney, though. Just be aware that it is smaller than a true IMAX screen like they have at Universal City Walk or Howard Hughes Center. Also, no AP discount on IMAX tickets so it cost $18.50. However the reserved seating is nice and the 3D is very good! Enjoy!

we should be able to buy tickets online on thursday. we can also reserve seats.
