Challenges In Scaling Django Projects

We're going to be talking about the challenges we have been (and still are) facing when scaling our Django project and the practices by which we resolve them. An open discussion over pizza & beer.

There's limited space, so make sure to RSVP before you arrive.

Cheers!

The presentation was awesome and the discussions afterward were brilliant, at least the one I participated in. Easily one of the more enjoyable meetups.

Udi and Tapingo guys: Thanks for the great event and presentation.
It was very interesting to hear about your challenges and see how you discovered the diversity and abundancy of hell just by building software.

Not related to django but since someone asked why web app are a terrible idea, here's is a great (though long) article on the subject. If it doesn't convince you let me know and we will have a small chat together ;). http://bit.ly/138GlM0

Excellent article, I let our mobile dev read it a few days ago, and I was happy that we already work this way (one less mistake to make :)

אז אם אני ברשימת המתנה לא להגיע? לא בטוח איך זה עובד

    1 · July 22, 2013

    • Yarden S.

Could you be more specific about what Technologies would be discussed etc?

    July 22, 2013

    • Asaf M.

The purpose is to have an open discussion so it highly depends on the technologies people will focus on.
I'm going to start with what we use here in Tapingo- MongoDB, Redis, Elastic cache, Amazon RDS, Redshift and our own ETL and BI infrastructure.

    Here's the updated agenda:
    5:45pm - Gathering & Schmoozing over pizza & beer
6:15pm - Short presentation about the challenges we faced when scaling our application
6:45pm - Spread to the different discussion boards (Django with multiple Databases, Django infrastructure in the cloud and Django template rendering performance & front-end)

7:45pm - Finish beer and pizza leftovers.

The goal here is to share knowledge & experience (the good and the bad) with each other and not to sit down and have a formal lecture.

In case you have any further questions or comments,
feel free to contact me directly via email or phone.

    See ya tomorrow,
    Udi

    Hey all!
I'm happy to announce once again, that the Meetup is taking place tomorrow as planned.

There are still people in the waiting list so please make sure you cancel your meetup attendance in case something came up and you can't make it.

Our office is within walking distance from Azrieli Center (~8 minutes ). If you are arriving by car, you can either find a parking spot in the neighborhood or use one of the two parking lots located on HaNatsiv st, between Isserles & Yosef Karo.

    Hey all,
Welcome to the Django Israel group!
I got to be honest, we didn't expect so many people to join so quickly - I guess you're either very hungry for Pizza or very eager to drink free beer :)

The Meetup is going to be in a 'round table' format focusing on three major application aspects:

    * Django template rendering performance & front-end
    * Django infrastructure (apache, nginx, server configuration and AWS management)
    * Django with multiple Databases (as a wise old chinese man once said: "scale your data, transfer your data and manage your data")

I believe we have a room for another round-table or two, so feel free to suggest other topics you're interested in.

We were able to make room for the guys in the waiting list, please make sure you RSVP only if you actually intend to come...

A more detailed agenda will be sent later. Until then - we're open for questions & suggestions...

    לחיים!
