The Documentary Roundtable is a joint program of Docs In Progress and Women and Film and Video. Usually held on the second Monday of every month (except when there are holidays), these free meetings switch off between Washington DC and Silver Spring.

All Documentary Roundtable meetings are FREE and you do NOT need to be a WIFV member, Docs Insider, or alum of Docs In Progress to participate. This is a great way to get to know others in the DC-area documentary filmmaking community, build your network and know-how, and find out about other offerings of these two organizations.

So What’s Happening This Month?

Tonight's meeting is facilitated by Docs In Progress alums Simone Fary and Richard Hall. As an antidote to the documentary filmmaker working in isolation, it’s a brainstorming, networking, and support group all wrapped up in one. This is an opportunity to meet others in the documentary community, workshop one member's trailer (pre-selected through an application process), and share your latest successes, challenges, and tips on documentary filmmaking.

The documentary trailer being featured this month is Bengali Cisse'sLife of a Black Falconer which follows an ex-drug dealer as he works to turn his life and the lives of others around through falconry.

PLEASE ALSO NOTE THAT WE PUBLICIZE THIS PROGRAM BEYOND MEET-UP SO OFTEN HAVE MANY MORE ATTENDEES THAN YOU MAY SEE ON THE RSVP LIST.

Thanks to everyone who attended and gave such thoughtful feedback. I think everyone agrees that the featured project has much merit and a bright future.

We just grab a coffee and speak French. Some people have been coming every week for months... it creates a kind of warmth to the group.
