Kennesaw Mountain Celebratory Hike

What better way to celebrate the re-opening of the National Parks then a nice, brisk and crisp morning walk within one such park located in our backyard!? I'd like to invite you all out for wonderful walk along the Burnt Hickory trail that connects Burnt Hickory and Dallas Highway. For those of you who may not have had the chance to venture out on this trail, it is an out and back trail starting from Burnt Hickory (didn't see that coming, did you? LOL) and stretches out to Dallas Highway. There are two trails that branch off of the main trail, but we will be taking the main trail on this hike (unless everyone would like to explore a side trail). There is a beautiful bridge that crosses over a lovely little creek; we can stop for a water break for the dogs and those of us who need a little re-fueling as well. The trail is probably best described as Easy-Moderate as there are a couple places with an incline; however, nothing as strenuous as hiking straight up the mountain itself. We will be walking at a comfortable pace for everyone, so please come out and enjoy this glorious Autumn weather with me! I'm looking forward to seeing/meeting you!

As a side note: For anyone interested in joining me, I will be heading to the biscuit place located on Old 41, past the Visitor's Center. They have a fabulous menu and outside seating so we can eat our well deserved breakfast while enjoying the rest of the morning! I believe the name of the place is Kennesaw Biscuits...but don't hold me to it.

It was cold but beautiful. Park was very clean and well maintained. It was a great group of people and dogs!

My first attempt (just joined the group), but my family and I kind of got lost and were super late. Still enjoyed a nice hike with the family and our new dog though! Now we know the road for next time!

I'm trying to find an address to put in my GPS because this is my first time at Kennesaw Mountain. Can you gave me a Landmark to look for.

Hey Tabitha. The parking lot will be across a small farm. Not sure which direction you're coming from but I posted direction from the Visitors Center earlier. Hope that helps

It is called Mountain Biscuits at 1718 Old Hwy 41, Marietta... I believe.
I think I have gotten directions to the hike from what you have written, Raven. If anyone else is taking I-75, my directions say exit 265, N Marietta Pkwy, go west 2.3 mi. Turn right on Whitlock go 1.5 mi, slight right on Burnt Hickory and will intersect with Old Mountain Rd after 1.3 miles.

Yes. There are tables out back away from the road that we can sit at. It has a great view of a pretty field so it'll be nice!

Diana: Turn onto Stilesborro Rd like you're going to the Visitors Center. Pass the the Center and drive until you see Old Mountain Road on your left. (Be careful because it comes up fast) Turn left onto Old Mountain Rd and follow that until it dead ends @ Burnt Hickory. The parking lot will be right in front of you. Take right onto Burnt Hickory & then left into parking lot.

Raven, I'm not sure where the parking lot is for Burnt Hickory in relation to the parking lot and overflow parking lot for the main entrance to the visitor center. Can you give more directions?
