***Attention Important Human Info after K9 Report!***
Featuring a K9 conversation between:
Sabrina ("leggy blonde" Belgian Shepard mix)
Hachi ("Exuberant raven haired" Golden Doodle)
Maverick ("robust mostly raven haired" German Shepard mix)
Maverick: Whoof!! Sabrina, loving the fur. Oh, hey Hachi!
Hachi: Hey Mav where's Wyatt? I was just asking Sabrina when/where's our next trip with SWD?
Maverick: You know Wyatt, he's off being the good dog as usual. So Bri; what's the scoop?
Sabrina: I heard my human talking about Shadow Cliffs in some place called Pleasanton I think. You know those humans always rambling on about something...
Hachi & Maverick: Sweet!
Hachi: Still off leash right? I don't like leashes. What's in store for us this time?
Sabrina: Totally off leash! Well it's a barkin' nice place. It shouldn't be ruff on the two leggers - hills, valleys, open trails, cool views, the usual. Oh yeah and a lake where we can play fetch, swim a little or just soak our paws.
Hachi: Sounds awesome, when do we go?
Sabrina: Well there might be a problem.
Maverick And that is.......?
Sabrina: First off, there's none of those big white water bowls our people like to sit on.
Hachi: Man that sucks! My human uses her's at home all the time. I'm not sure my human will go.
Sabrina: Ha! You don't know my person. She'll get your's to go, she thinks of everything! LOL! She figures if we can go outside, so can they! Only you know how some of those humans are... They have to take something simple turn it into something huge and ridiculous.
Hachi: I know, right!
Maverick: Why does it always happens at play time?
Hachi: But Sabrina? How you gonna convince my human to do all that?
Sabrina: No problem, my girl is all on top of it. In case of a "potty emergency" as she calls it. Strange I know, it's just another one of those weird human words. You know...Like NO? Anyways my person is bringing wet wipes, toilet paper and hand sanitizer. She says she picks up after her dog so she can pick up after herself if she has to.
Hachi: Ok if you say so but I still have my doubts.
Maverick: I agree. It doesn't sound great to our companions.
Sabrina: Don't worry about it guys! I'm pretty sure it's a pack thing.
Check out our Shadow Cliffs Recon Photos/Album! There are bathrooms and water fountains across the parking lot near the public swimming area. DOGS MUST BE ON LEASH on this side of park. Dogs can be OFF LEASH on the trails but under strict voice control (which means you call they come back immediately.) Parking fee is $8 ($6 per car and $2 per dog). I highly recommend carpooling! HOWEVER, for this walk we will be meeting at a back entrance that has street parking. The entrance is on Vineyard Ave/Old Vineyard. For those using a GPS or Google Maps; use the residence address of 2538 Vineyard Ave, Pleasanton. Please be courteous: the address is a residential address so don't park there.
These trails go from narrow to spacious. There are bodies of water throughout the park and most aren't ideal for doggies to swim in. Keep an eye on your dog if he/she loves to jump into water. This hike/walk leads into multiple trails that all intertwine into each other at easy to moderate elevation changes. We will be stopping at a lake where the doggies can swim and play. Also please be aware of EPA Water Warning for Lake Water so NO Swimming for the Humans http://www.ebparks.org/parks/shadow_cliffs
**Please Bring W/ You:**
• WATER for both yourself and dogs. At least a couple of large bottles for both of you
• Snacks of any kind or you can pack your lunch
• Sunblock (it's going to be sunny)
As always please leave a comment or contact Therese if you have any questions or concerns!
Hope to see you and your Furry Friends at Shadow Cliffs!
