If you're participating in the Nose Work Class at 12noon (meeting at McLaren Park-Jerry Garcia Amphitheater parking lot) or even if you're not - which is ok, come join us for an off leash walk around the lake to give our pups a chance to let off some steam before class starts. I hope by giving them a chance to run around to tire them out a bit they can concentrate better during class. We can walk around the lake one or two times (this is more of co-organizer sidekick Molly's speed), let our pooches run around and play fetch with a stick. There's even a "stick pile" of dry white sticks & branches of various sizes that looks like a pile of dry bones for your stick choosing. Don't worry you can't miss this pile, it's located near the dog swimming lake, near the concrete picnic tables. Or if your pooch is like our organizer sidekick, Sabrina, her fetching material of choice may be a pine cone of her choosing - the bigger and crunchier - the better!
The dog swim lake is for dogs so it's okay for them to wade and play in the water, swim around back and forth or even catch a ball in the water. I do have to warn you that the water is a bit murky and green. I'm not sure how deep the lake is but have been told by other dog owners that it might be up to 10 feet deep in the center. If needed after your pup takes a dip, you can rinse them off at the water faucet station located next to Jerry Garcia Amphitheater. The restrooms are located here also.
After letting the pups run around, we'll make our way for about 1/4 mile to the restrooms and water faucet station next to Jerry Garcia Amphitheater for a water & restroom break. The Nose Work Class meeting spot in the parking lot is really close by.
Remember to bring water and snacks as needed for you and your bff and also cleanup bags. Any questions send me an email or add a comment. Also check out this photo album for recon pics: http://www.meetup.com/Doggy-Days/photos/19804642/
See you at McLaren Park "Dog Lake"!
