Weekend in Vegas with the Girls

  • January 4 · 5:00 PM
  • This location is shown only to members

I'm envisioning this as a small group of Dolls, who are ready for an intense weekend of bonding and self-exploration while we really take some leaps together to try some new things. Of course that means something different to everyone, so we'll try to get a feel from the group where everyone is in that journey which will give us an idea what kinds of events would work for the group.

Zumanity for sure is on the list.

Some other thoughts for the list were;

A High Tea.  Price range is $25 - $35

Shopping at the Forum Shops

A late night visit to The Power Exchange for those feeling naughty/brave/curious (participation is NEVER required, and I'm not sure of the admission price yet but it is usually minimal).

The Forum Shops I can see us taking in some shopping at The Forum Shops at Caesars Palace is Las Vegas' premier retail, dining and entertainment destination, featuring more than 160 boutiques and shops as well as 13 restaurants and specialty food shops. The Forum Shops have held on to their position as the most successful shopping venue in the country through continual progress. The most recent expansion added 175,000 square feet and additional levels that extend the mall out to Las Vegas Boulevard, where a grand pedestrian plaza creates a signature entrance for The Forum Shops at Caesars.

The Plan is to see who responds with genuine interest and then come up with an agenda.  Plans for the rest of the time are very flexible; maybe we do some things as a group, maybe we split into smaller groups doing what we feel comfortable with.  Nothing ridged, just some fun interesting things to do while in Vegas.  The main attraction will be the Cirque du Soleil show, so here's a little more about it:

Zumanity, the Sensual Side of Cirque du Soleil, is a seductive twist on reality, making the provocative playful and the forbidden electrifying! Leave all inhibitions at the door and let loose as this adult-themed production takes you on a sexy thrill ride full of sensational acrobatics and naughty fun. Part burlesque and part cabaret, Zumanity is one full night you'll never forget! Zumanity was created for adults 18 and over. Only at New York-New York Hotel and Casino, Las Vegas.

Driving up.  Email coming soon to discuss who wants to carpool, and logistics. Be sure you're RSVPd "yes" to get the emails!

Hotel Information.  Harrah's is the relatively inexpensive-yet-clean hotel of choice.

Hotel sharing. Email will be coming soon to discuss hotel room and vehicle sharing! Make sure you're RSVP'd for this event to get the emails.

Cost. Email will be coming soon to discuss all the juicy details. Right now, Cirque du Soleil is not listing ticket prices for January yet, but estimates are that the Zumanity tickets will cost each person about $120. Assuming 4-6 of us commit and pile into a shared hotel room, the total cost for both nights would be about $20 per person (give or take a few dollars depending on how many of us do commit), and assuming we all traveled together in one really full vehicle, chipping in for gas should be about $15/person.

So by the time you add those together and factor in a couple of drinks, I'd say anyone hoping to have fun on this adventure should not commit unless they're prepared to spend a minimum of $175. My goal will be to squeak by for around $200, which I'm fairly confident I can swing in 1-3 paychecks. But only you know your own budget, so do some number crunching, break open that piggy bank, or figure out what needs to happen if you're serious about doing this, and then let me know asap.

The deadline to RSVP is fast approaching, as we will need to pool funds for the hotel and Cirque du Soleil show so that no one (meaning me) is left in the lurch. :) I'll accept personal checks or cash from you if you want to meet up with me before I book, and I can keep a log of who's paid what in case any actual prices end up differently than expected and you're entitled to a partial refund. But if you already know you're definitely in, as much of that $175 as you can manage now will help eliminate stress for my bank account later.

If you're a newer Doll who doesn't really know me well yet and prefers an online transaction (totally understandable; I won't judge!) that's fine, however Paypal and Amazon payments charge a fee of 3% so on larger purchases, that adds up so obviously checks or cash are preferred. If you contact me and are super enthusiastic about your commitment and can provide some sort of proof of good faith, I may even be willing to let you hand me the cash when we meet up at the carpool location on Dec. 4th. We'll figure something out!

  • Aurelia

The ladies were great at finding deals and easy ways to get around in the city. The show Zumanity was awesome!!.It was nice to converse with each other without feeling judged because of ones point of views. I'm looking forward to more activities and trips with the dolls.

  • Rebekah

Hey ladies, I can't get a hold of Aurelia yet so I'll post a suggestion for dinner tonight here. I think it would be fun to show you all The Cat House, at Luxor. 3900 Las Vegas Blvd. South Las Vegas, NV 89119. They seem to be open until 11, and by the time Sarah and I get to our hotel it will be around 8, so let's plan to meet there around 9. Obviously this may mean having a snack earlier in the evening for most of us. :)

    More on your buffet.

    December 21

  • Rebekah

Good news, Chicas! The tickets for Zumanity have been purchased, and even better, I was able to find a 25% online discount for lower orchestra seating, so we're on the floor level and the total cost was less than expected! I'll owe each of you $23 back. :)

  • Lori Casper

    Someone mentioned a Buffet?
    http://www.lasvegas-how-to.com/...

    December 15

    • Rebekah

Update on buffet tickets; since they can only be purchased at the fist buffet (they're valid for several locations) at the time you begin using them, the weekend price for buying one on Friday or Saturday will be $54, although at potentially $13.50 per all-you-can-eat variety meals at a different buffet each time (if we want), it's still a great deal in my opinion. :)

      December 19

    • Lori Casper

I am in if you all want to go that way.

      December 19

  • Lori Casper

What time will you all be up there? I will be there thursday and I am pretty sure Aurelia will be there Thursday as well.

    December 15

    • Rebekah

I believe Sarah and I will leave mid-day on Friday and be there in the early evening so we could all go to dinner together at a restaurant that night (and still plan on doing the buffet for meals on Saturday, right?).

      December 19

    • Lori Casper

Sounds like a plan to me.

      December 19

  • Lori Casper

I heard that is good as well, but timing is everything. Again I am easy and will go with the flow. http://www.harrahslasvegas.com/...

    December 15

  • Lori Casper

To keep this simple I am good with whatever you all decide.

    December 13

  • Rebekah

Please see the pics I just uploaded for ticket prices. The longer we wait, the less likely we are to have good seats so as soon as I have money from everyone I'll order them. I'm inclined to do the 10pm show but if someone has a strong preference for 7pm, let me know.
I'll say the deadline to meet me for payment is Sunday night.
Aurelia, I don't have your number but if you'd like to message or text me (my number is on most events) I can maybe coordinate you and Sarah to drop of money at the same time if you want.

    December 12

    • Aurelia

okay, I ll b getting in touch with you before the end of the week:)

      December 12

    • Lori Casper

I am good with the later show as well, hopefully you all will nudge me if I dose off. I will also make sure you get paid as well by the end of the week.

      December 12

  • Aurelia

I will be arriving on Thursday as well with a friend. I think you the organizers should purchase your tickets, post the row and seating section and let each one of us purchase our own tickets. Just an idea :)

    December 9

    • Aurelia

Are you ladies meeting sometime this week to gather the money? If thats the case , let me know so I can bring you my $ as well.

      December 11

    • Lori Casper

Kind of waiting to see what the deadlines are from Rebekah. We also need to determine the ticket price.

      December 12

  • Sharyn Kessel

Hey Rebekah, what is the hard deadline?

    December 3

    • Rebekah

haha I was afraid someone would ask me to nail that down, Sharyn! ;) I guess the definite hard deadline to commit would be Sunday, Dec. 9th, and the hard deadline to pay for at least your share of the hotel would be Saturday the 15th. Deadline to pay for Zumanity may be later than that, since I can't buy tickets yet anyway on their webpage.

      December 3

    • Rebekah

Sorry you can't make it this time, Sharyn, but maybe we'll do another trip and you'll be able to join us for that one!

      December 11

  • Lori Casper

Lastly, the show. It would be great to sit together to enjoy Zumanity, and we have yet to figure out how to make a bulk purchase all at one so we can accomplish that effort. I will speak with Rebekah this week to see what her thoughts are. It is alot of money to purchase the tickets and have some one no-show, so we need to figure this out if we want to sit together.

    December 9

  • Lori Casper

Getting there. Reach out to others that are going up if you are interested in ride sharing. I will most likely be there a day early on business, so I will not be able to accomodate riders.

    December 9

  • Lori Casper

Is everybody good with the hotel. Have you confirmed the hotel and or contacted one of the others that are going to talk about sharing? The hotel that we have picked is Harrah's Las Vegas, 3475 Las Vegas Blvd. South, Las Vegas, NV 89109 [masked]. Pretty cheap and kind of in the middle of many of things. So please let me know if you need any more information on the hotel part.

    December 9

  • Melissa

You all have done a LOT more research than me but I am very intrigued/interested. I just need to work out the logistics. I would probably drive and am willing to share or provide a good car.
    Let me know.

    1 · December 2

    • Rebekah

Hey Melissa, our "fish or cut bait" deadline is approaching soon, since we will need to ask for money to buy the Cirque du Soleil tickets soon. If you are interested, please RSVP as a "yes" for now so I can send an email out to everyone to start discussing hotel rooms and ticket prices and payment options, and that should give you the info you'll need to make your decision. :)

      December 3

  • Lori Casper

I may have caused some confusion which I do apologize for. I did in fact book the hotel. I booked it for Thursday a day before the original date planned of Friday, as I will most likely end up in Vegas one day early for business, plus that night only cost $20 and to me was worth the gamble, probably a better bet than a table bet.
As far as sharing I think the best way to work sharing out is to email each person individually and see what the status of the room they have is.

Now with the hotel decided time to give thoughts about booking zumanity and see what else the interest of the rest of the group is.

    December 2

  • Lori Casper

Hi everyone, I did some research and listened to those who are going and found that value won out over luxury so I just booked Harrah's. It is across the street from The Forum shops, Ceasars and Mirage. The price is great, this is what I just paid. The cool part is there is no $20 a night resort fee that each hotel seems to be tacking on and that is what it says on their site.

    Rates Per Room*
    01/03/2013------$21.00 USD
    01/04/2013------$30.00 USD
    01/05/2013------$30.00 USD

    -----------------------
    Total Trip Cost**
    $90.72 USD
*Excludes tax, recovery charges and service fees
    **Estimated Total Cost

Here is the link to their website http://www.harrahslasvegas.com/...

I am not sure that this is a special soon to go away or what, but one thing is for sure Vegas jacks the prices up as it gets closer to the day of stay.

    December 2

    • Sarah

Thanks Lori! With these prices, depending on how many dolls end up going we might consider 2 rooms. I also have an inflatable mattress I could bring if we stick with 2 rooms.

      December 2

    • Sarah

Also are we planning on going down Jan 3? I think I might only be able to go up on the 4th

      December 2

  • Lori Casper

Here is the location on google https://maps.google.com/maps?q=h...

    December 2

  • Lori Casper

Okay, so what hotel are we all trying to get, is it Harrahs? Lets put it here so we can all make our reservations accordingly. If we agree on the hotel I will make mine and let you all know I am confirmed for this hotel. Let me know.

    December 1

  • Aurelia

I just checked the website for the hotel. They are running the cyber Monday sales, if we book before the end of the week, we get 25% off. That's 71.40 with tax incl. for 2 nights (Thurs. and Fri) versus 95.20 without the discount.

    November 29

    • Rebekah

Oh, that sounds like our signal! Since I know we'll want at least one hotel room for sure, I'd be willing to book it as long as at least 2 or 3 of you are willing to promise me you're definitely going and would repay your share. :)

      November 29

    • Aurelia

I will definitely go. If you want to book it, let me know.

      November 30

  • Lori Casper

I just talked to the box office and they say the seats are wide open at the moment. I think the best way to do this is to purchase them individually as the alternative is for someone to buy them all at once and be on the line for all that cash. Then having to deal with a no show could get pricy. The down side is this will make it most difficult to sit together. it is possible that if we start buying them now we could sit together as they are not booked at all.

    November 29

    • Rebekah

Another option is that if we set a hard deadline for serious RSVPs, once it's set, we can make the even a paid event for some amount (whatever the ticket costs, or the ticket plus a portion of a room charge) and then everyone could pay for their "event" with PayPal or a cash or check to me or whatever, and then either me or Lori could go ahead and book all at once using that money so we know we can sit together. I'm down if you are all willing to commit by a certain deadline. Say a month in advance of the event? December 4th a good time to know for sure if you can do it?

      November 29

  • Lori Casper

So I started to look at hotels and was going to book New York new York. Price is $75 first night plus $85 the second night, plus they add a resort fee of $20 for the first night. Started looking at Kayak and saw Harrahs For $30 a night and no fees. It is across from Cesars thoughts anyone? http://www.harrahslasvegas.com/...

    November 29

    • Sarah

anything that is cheap and clean is all I'm looking for!

      November 29

  • Lori Casper

Looks like we should soon start the conversation as to ride sharing and hotel room sharing for those that are interested. This probably is best done with just emailing the gals that have signed up.

    November 25

    • Sunday

I know in the past I have used the website Slickdeals.com to get good hotel rooms. They have super cheap discounts on hotel rooms which are unbooked. Last time I went to Vegas I stayed in a 300$ room at the MGM on the strip for 50 a night! The time of year, etc, makes a difference in what's available and how good the deals are, but it may be worth a shot!

      November 26

    • Sarah

I've never been to vegas so I don't know anything about hotels there, but I could potentially drive. My car is small but seats 5 - how comfortable those 5 people would be, I'm not sure!

      November 26

  • Lori Casper

Well, open to ideas as to what all you are interested in doing. I would imagine dressing up for the show will be nice, wished I had the figure for that LBD. :)

    November 23

  • Lori Casper

Day drinking???? :) You have a spare flask?

    November 16

    • Rebekah

I can probably find a spare, but the good news about Vegas is that there's no need to be clandestine. You can just get one of those giant-ass alco-slurpees and walk around the streets sipping them like everybody else!

      1 · November 20

  • Lori Casper

That makes things easier, I was so worried about putting a none stop agenda together. I will call the show office and see how seating will work.

    November 16

  • Rebekah

Enterainment: I'm ALL for Cirque du Soleil so I'm really excited about Zumanity! I'd prefer to keep things less pricey, so window shopping (and maybe a couple of choice purchases) and just general day drinking sound like a good time for me.
Driving: I don't have a car, but I do have a license and some mad hyper-miling skills (and clean record) so I'm happy to pitch it for fuel and help with the actual driving if someone doesn't like doing that part.
Hotel: Splitting a room with 1-6 of you at New York New York works for me! I'm pretty easygoing so I can sleep on the floor, curl up next to someone, or at the foot of the bed... whatevs!

    November 16

    • Aurelia

I'm with you Rebekah, Zumanity is the main entree. We can do some bar hopping and/or other not so pricy activities on the side...

      1 · November 16

    • Sarah

Ditto all of these things. I'm really excited!

      November 16

  • Lori Casper

Not at all, send me an email. Lori

    November 16

  • Julie

This trip to Vegas and the entertainment sound perfect for me! Hopefully I can come to a couple events before the trip and meet some of you. Do you mind a stranger coming along?

    November 16

    • Rebekah

Hey Julie, Of course if you're interested in the trip and want it to be your first big adventure with the Dolls, you'll be welcome! But of course we'll have lots of chances to meet before then, so hopefully you'll see something else that interests you too. :)
