I started this group after meeting several people like myself who absolutely love Door County, Wisconsin. As anybody who has been there will tell you, Door County has an intangible jè ne çe pas, an aura of healthiness and happiness that just cannot be explained. As you drive up the peninsula, crossing Sturgeon Bay, you start feeling healthy and robust, as if all of your troubles have been left behind.
Door County is a place like no other. It is a land of gorgeous cliffs, bluffs and rock outcroppings. A land of limestone and copper, serene beauty and fresh water, a land untouched by time, greed, or so called civilization.
Far from some rural Wisconsin fishing town, Door County is a place that encompasses all of the things that drive us to travel; to 'get away.' Door County is a nearly self sustaining world of its own. Instead of chain resorts, restaurants and stores, you will find gorgeous and classy hotels and resorts owned-sometimes for generations-by people who truly care about their guests. Instead of heading out to Chili's for supper, you can dine on sumptuous Lake Michigan whitefish caught fresh just hours before your meal, boiled red potatoes dripping in farm fresh butter with home made coleslaw, topped off with straight from the oven cherry pie-made from fresh Door County cherries-a la mode with homemade vanilla ice cream-all at an authentic Door County fish boil. For breakfast the next morning you can drive down the main thoroughfare, taking your pick of which gourmet breakfast restaurant you'd like to get your breakfast from.
After breakfast, you can relax at one of the world class spas that grow their own fresh ingredients for their oils, lotions and potions right on the grounds. If you aren't ready for that kind of hard-core relaxation just yet, simply walk right out the door of your breakfast restaurant, leave your car parked where it is and hit one of the art galleries, wine-tastings, jewelry stores, or the many distinct boutiques that line the street.
If you are craving some adventure, take a scenic air or water cruise of the gorgeous peninsula, book at charter boat for the afternoon, or even go sky-diving or parasailing.
Not QUITE THAT adventurous? Head up to North Port and take the ferry across to Washington Island where you can bike, hike, segway, or motor-scooter around the historic and beautiful island. When you return, have dinner and drinks in Sister Bay and watch the sun set at sunset park with a glass of wine. Want some evening entertainment? Head to a late night bar or go see an under the stars production at the Peninsula Players Theater. In Door County, there are no limits to the things you can do.
These are only some of the reasons why I've decided to start this meetup! Hopefully at some point, we will possibly do more than just talk about visiting Door County, but until then, we will be sharing Door County recipes, news&info, food, wine, the Door County podcast&magazine, and more!

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.

Henry, started Reno Motorcycle Riders
