Walk in Wareham Forest

Brief Description – A walk through Wareham Forest visiting part of the Sika Trail. A mixture of countryside – some in trees, some with open views.

Level of Difficulty – 1 easy. Mainly on tracks but with some paths which can be muddy.

Dangers – Nothing specific that I know of. Some people say the road near the car park is haunted though!

Car Park – Forestry commission car park.

Distance – 8-9 miles

Approximate Time – 4 hours allowing for stops

Beverage/Food – please bring a packed lunch and I would suggest a warm drink.

Pub – No pubs on route but The Silent Woman is about a quarter of a mile from the car park.

Other matters – I do know parts of this walk can get rather muddy after heavy rain, so boots are a must, and gaiters recommended.

Contact number on the day 07793581627.

Thanks to all who joined me on this walk. For those who did not come the paths were surprisingly dry to anyone who knows the area and we were able to make to walk at a good pace. The sun shone and we enjoyed ourselves. Finished with a short drive to the pub. A good day out. Stue improved my route by leading the group the steepest way off Woolsbarrow Fort! All good fun.

The forecast is good for the time of year. It may be cloudy but the chance of rain is low. So wrap up warm and let's enjoy the walk.

Aim for the green arrow on the map, not the red blob. If anyone understands how these maps on the site work please let me know!
