Mary Harney will be joining us to talk about her life in a Catholic orphanage in Ireland.

For those who wish, let's have pre-meeting lunch at 1 pm at the Maine Grind. That way people can join in any time before the meeting...

I know I'm prejudiced hearing Mary Harney tell her family history. She's quite a woman. I wish all of you had heard the students roar when she got up to speak. Standing ovations before and after the talk. I do hope she'll write a book and come back to talk again at that time.

Her talk was fantastic, Alice, and thank you so much for arranging for her to come!

Yes, thank you, Alice! Listening to Mary speak was simply amazing!

Sad story, but interesting speaker. Hope we can have more programs like this that introduce outside voices and experiences - and not always just listening to ourselves.

I thought Mary's talk was fascinating, and was pleased we had such a great turnout. Sorry the lunch plan before the meeting was confused by the big crowd at the Grind, and that everyone did not find us (eating upstairs).

Drat, I was determined to make my first meeting...worked several hours through this sunny holiday to meet a work deadline and then lost the whole days' work to an Adobe Reader glitch. So I have to change my RSVP. Regrets. Sounds like a fascinating speaker.

I just had an e-mail from Mary - I must have had an old e-mail address because she never got it. Luckily, she had mine - so, I've told her we'd be at The Grind at 1 PM and invited her to bring her partner. Alice

I've left a message to Mary Harney to meet at The Grind for a lunch before the meeting, but haven't heard back yet. When you decide where you'll meet, I'll let her decide what she'd like to do. Alice

Still in play rehearsals with final performance on the date of the August meeting. Sorry.

I have been trying to get in touch with Lynn, who is serving as our unofficial social director, to find out which restaurant for the pre-meeting lunch. Does anyone have suggestions?

    July 2, 2014

    • Doug B.

No suggestions Nancy because I may be working in the morning. Not sure I can make the lunch. I do have Lynn's phone # if you want me to give her a call?

Thanks, Doug, I have Lynn's number and have left messages but she hasn't gotten back to me. Seeing Alice's post, why don't we say lunch at the Grind at 1 pm?

My wife and I may be able to attend the August meeting. We will be on vacation in South West Harbour for a week around then.
